I once had something similar, it turned out to be the tip of one of my lungs that was infected with bronchitis.

February 26th, 2009 - 3:47 pmWhat you’re suffering is called pleuritic pain, meaning that the intensity of pain is specifically associated with breathing. There are a variety of causes, including an undiagnosed infection, that could be to blame. The fact that the pain is associated with breathing means that it’s probably not your kidneys. See a doctor ASAP. Any advice you get on here is just going to be wild guesses.

Kidneys, broken rib or pleurosy.
Always see a doctor. Anon is right. All we can do is guess. I’ve had pleurosy (an infection between the lungs and ribcage) and it was very painful.
