I have heard many get good results after a “manipulation under anesthesia” (MUA). But only an orthopedic surgeon should do this, not a chiropractor or other doctor. They put your body through its full range of motion (back, legs) which may hurt you if you were awake, but produces good results afterward. Maybe research this and see if it’s something that will help you. GL.

Unfortunately you may have to try different medications to see what works for you. I have a lot of knee pain and used to have to get the cortisone shots too. Even though they can be addicting you may consider asking about a narcotic that will help more. Or maybe just tell your doctor about how severe it is and how it’s affecting your daily life and he/she will automatically prescribe you something stronger to see if it helps. Good luck, pain is no fun!

A couple of thoughts on this, being I’ve had the same problem. Try Lidocane patches, you’ll have to get a prescription from your doctor for these. These are a pain patch worn over the affected area and slowly disperse numbing medicine to the spot. Another idea is a TEN’s unit. Again, you’ll need a doctors order to buy/use one. This is a small electrical unit with 2-4 patches you wear over the affected area, and it delivers small low voltage current to numb the nerves. A PT can teach you how to use it. Finally, exercises are good to strengthen the back. Doing them once or twice will not help, after a back injury you’ll need to make a exercise program a daily routine. Strong muscles will support the spine better, preventing future flare ups.

What was the old injury? What tests did you have done when you injured your back? Need to know.

It might just be that all the muscles of your core (hips, thighs, buttocks, lower back and abs) are all tight and in deep spasm. When they are tight they contort and this is what pulls your lower back and pelvis out of alignment and this is what causes your discomfort and sciatica. the best thing for this is inversion therapy. When inverting all of these muscles are free to stretch out and relax. As they do the knots come out of those muscles and as they are free and lose they will release their grips on your lower back, hips and pelvis and allow them to go back into alignment naturally. Once they are realigned nothing will be irritating your sciatic nerve and your pain will go away. You just have tight muscles that need to be stretched out. Stress causes this too by the way. Hope you feel better and hope this helps you. GOOGLE: online health mart sciatica :to see what I mean.
