not a slipped disc
probably a stitch in the plurer the sack that encases lungs and organs to buffer against ribs or might have strained an intercostal muscle the muscles between each rib
do plenty of warm ups before a run and warm downs after a run
and enquire at a chiropractor for massage of muscles and bones around rib cage & back areas

March 13th, 2009 - 9:43 amHow old are you? Have you told all this to your doctor? How is your fluid intake? Are you doing light warm ups before you stretch? So many possiblities for solutions here. Really need to provide more information.

March 15th, 2009 - 5:37 amIf you actually think it is a slipped disk, then for goodness sakes STOP running!!!! Get to a chiropractor immediately. You may simply need a lower back adjustment. Your back is nothing to play around with and back pain is nothing to ignore! Good luck!

I am not a doctor, but you should go to your doctor and tell him about this. You might have an aneurysm. An aneurysm is a bulge in a blood vessel that can be very dangerous. If it were to bust you could die very quickly. If the pain is in your upper back, between your shoulder blades or lower this could be your problem. If you are a very tall, skinny person you are more susceptible to this. Please see your doctor immediately. Pain is not normal, especially after exercise.
